City Council Regular Meeting —10/25/04
DRAFT Minutes - Page 18
8. Consider Public Improvement Agreement for Midland Hills
Subdivision
Public Works Director Duane Schwartz reviewed the proposed
project; noting that the proposed affected sanitary sewer lift
station had been included in the City's Capital Improvement
Program for an upgrade, and in fairness to the developer's need
to relocate the lift station, staff felt it was appropriate to enter
into an agreement with the developer for cost-sharing the
relocation of the lift station.
Public Works Director Schwartz noted that the developer (United
Properties) will be constructing public improvements, including
relocating the lift station, sanitary sewer, water, storm sewer
relocation and street restoration. Mr. Schwartz noted that the
City would work with the developer's engineer during
construction to ensure the improvements were installed
according to approved plans and City standards and
specifications.
Councilmember Kough sought clarification of the percentage of
costs to be born by the City; with Public Works Director
Schwartz advising approximately ten percent (10%) would be
born by the City.
Councilmember Schroeder sought clarification as to ongoing
standardization of lift stations throughout the community, and
this lift station's compatibility with other lift stations.
Public Works Director Schwartz advised that staff was
continuing to work with the developer's engineers; and it was
staff's intent to continue standardizing the lift station control
panels, while at the same time incorporating new and improved
technologies.
Councilmember Ihlan sought clarification regarding the City's
$25,000 contribution, already set aside, for upgrading the lift
station even without the pending move required by the
developer.
Public Works Director Schwartz advised that Councilmember
Consider Public
Improvement
Agreement for
Midland Hills
Subdivision
