� � <br />Request for Council Action <br />Date: November 22,2004 <br />Item Number: 3.d <br />Department Approval Manager Approval Agenda Section <br />Item Description: <br />Resolution authorizing City Manager to apply for SCORE Funding Grant <br />Back�round <br />The State of Minnesota assesses a Municipal Solid Waste tax on residential and commercial garbage bills. A <br />portion of that tax is distributed through the SCORE program to counties for waste abatement programs. <br />Ramsey Countypasses a share of the SCORE grant funding to each city in the county. The share is pro-rated <br />on the basis of population. The amount of those funds available to Roseville in 2005 is $65,161. <br />The application process for the grant requires a resolution adopted by the City Council. <br />Financial Im�lications <br />The grant may be used for qualifying waste abatement programs such as the Curbside Recycling Program, the <br />Clean Up Day and the Leaf Pick Up Program. <br />Staff Recommendation <br />It is recommended the Council adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager to apply for the grant. <br />Council Action Rec�uested <br />A motion adopting a resolution authorizing the City Manager to submit a grant application to Ramsey County <br />for a 2005 SCORE Funding Grant in amount of $65,161.00. <br />
