REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION DATE: 12/06/04 r� ITEM NO.: �.d Department ApprovaL• Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: � � � .. ___. .- — ••---- � Item Description: Extension of Contract for Waste Removal from City of Roseville Facilities Background: The City of Roseville contract for waste removal service from City facilities expires December 31,2004. When these services were last bid in late 2002, the specifications included language that this contract could be extendedby mutual agreement for up to an additional two years at the conclusion of the initial contract period. On� Waste Services, the current provider of these services, has indicated a desire to extend their contract an additional2 years at the current contract rate. The specifications require service at City Hall, the maintenance facility, three fire stations, the golf course, the skating center, and four locations in Central Park. The current cost for waste removal at these facilities is $832.64 per month. An additional fee of $8.00 per cubic yard for material in excess of the base quantity is also a part of this agreement. We have had good service from On� over the past two years. They have been consistent with their schedule and responsiveto our needs. In light of rising fuel costs, we feel extension of the current contract at the present monthly rate is in the City's best interest. Financial Implications: The extension of this service contract falls within the proposed 2005 budgeted amount. With the rising costs of fuel we feel this is a good time to lock in this rate for an additional2 years. Staff Recommendation: Staff recommends a 2 year extension of the existing waste removal service contract with On� Waste Services at a monthly cost of $832.64. RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION: Motion extending the current contract for waste removal from City facilities with On� Waste Services for $832.64 per month through December 31,2006.
