REQUEST FOR COUNCII, ACTION
Department Approval

Manager Reviewed
_
Item Description: AirTouch Application for Temporary Tower
Background
Date: O1/24/2000
Item No.: -5
Agenda Section
Consent
AirTouch Cellular is vacating its current tower site and has approached the City about locating on
the City's water tower. Preliminary reviews indicate that such a location could be in the City's best
interest. However, a final design and lease must be agreed by both parties before a final
recommendation is made to the Council,
In the meantime, AirTouch would like to place a temporary tower at the Water Tower site so that
they will not be out of service in the Roseville area. Such a siting does not require any conditional
use permit or other licensing except the approval of a temporary lease agreement.
The City entered into a similar agreement with APT at the Dale Street Fire Station in 1997, until
they could complete the tower at the Reservoir Woods site.
Staff Recommendation
Staff is recommending that a temporary lease agreement be entered into with A1rTouch Cellular,
until the future prospect of a longer term lease at the City's water tower can be more fully explored
by both parties.
Council Action
Motion approving City entering into a temporaiy lease with 11rT0uCh Cellular and authorizing the
Mayor and City Manager to sign the temporary lease, as reviewed by the City Attorney.
