To: The Roseville Planning Commission
The Rpscvitle City Council
John Kysylyczyn, Mayor of Roseville
2660 Civic Center Drive
Roseville, MN SS113
I support putting a new Cub supmiarket in the Har Mar Mall and ask tl you approve the variana that
wilt allorov the Cnb to be built as soon as possible. T71e additioa of a Cb to the Har Mar will provide local,
comeaieat acoess ta a svpeanarkat, imprwe t}e stability of rle mall and help to ensure fiat Rosevillc has a
staWe tax bese af bu.
The Hr Mar mall has been in existence since I962. The ef%ct of she mall oa local property vahcs has
long siace boea do. The mall is aitd llas been a commercial, retail property for almost 40 yeats. The use
of the spea for asapamarket is appropriate and provides bencfits for local residents.
Some Of the local residents' oonams aboutthe Cub inchide increased traffic congcstion, noise and storm
nut-off. The owners of the uYeU, Bradley Real Estate, hsvo worked wiTh locai reidents to understasd tLe
residents' concerns. Bradley and Cub hae adessed aH of the issues with solid (and oostly? solutions to
P P.
I wauld likc tlu Har Mar to continuc as a succeful shopping center. Smalkr shoppaag maqs in the Twin
Cities have been closing We read atores that are published in the local newrs descnib'sng the
problems o the sull nalls. The Har Mar is ri exempt from these problems. Turnover of bu in
dre Har Mar has also boen observod. 'ihe ddiaon of a Cbb rnaicet wil! help aae a fisncially soud
ma!! that is a vabt nail ceater in !he futnre. We wa:ld prafer W not have a vacant maU in the
neibothood. N only woald a vacani mall datract from tire neigborhood, but the potetitial loas of tax
dllara fran the miall oould result in a lrigher tau rate for Rnseville citizens.
The mll providca mmcy benefits: a wallang area for residents to vse for exercise daing tbe long winter
mos, spece for a local farnurs marcet in ihe summer, a 1oca1 movie there, a variety of retawants, a
large tio}a1 chsia boostore and co'a shop w name only a few. Obe of tho benefits of living in an
ubeu em'l.onmeat is to have ,easy_aCess to shopping, retauants and entertaitrsneat.
I urge you w vote to apmve the coction of tt (;ub market at tbe Har Mar matl itnmedist+ely.
