Overall, they represent an increase in cost for maintenance materials for
2000. The bituminous materials and oil markets have increased this past year. Historically, this
market is very volatile. Acceptance of the low bidder is recommended in each case, maintenance
programs will be reviewed to try to keep overall costs within budget.
Bituminous materials are picked up at the mixing plant by City staff with City trucks. This
makes location of the asphalt plant very important when determining lowest overall cost to the
City. The location of the Bituminous Roadway plant was evaluated andvvill be under scrutiny to
ensure lowest overall cost when labor and trucking is added to material cost.
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
Motion accepting the following bids for Street Department materials:
l. Class 5 Camas Aggregate Division
2. FA-2 Class A Aggregate Meridian Aggregates
3. Type 32B Asphalt Bituminous Roadways
4. Type 41A Asphalt Bituminous Roadways
5. Type 41B Asphalt Bituminous Roadways
