Request for Council Action <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />Marshall spoke with the occupants and recovered a small amount of marijuana. While talking with <br />the occupant, he found a room key to #215. He received a consent to search and recovered 161bs. <br />Of marijuana. Four suspects were arrested and the information was passed on to Minneapolis SIU. <br />Minneapolis PD served a search warrant based on Officers Marshall's information and recovered <br />another 151bs. of marijuana and $7,000 in cash. Officer Marshall's alertness and willingness to follow <br />up on a seemingly minor incident yielded four felony drug arrests and the seizure of 311 bs of <br />marijuana and $7,000 in cash. <br />Officer John Jorgensen <br />On 8/23/99 Officer John Jorgensen stopped a vehicle at Co Rd D and Hwy 35W for a minor traffic <br />offense. While talking to the driver, he smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The <br />suspect was placed in the squad and a search of the vehicle yielded 230 grams of marijuana <br />packaged for distribution. The suspect suddenly kicked out the squad window and a violent fight <br />ensued when Officer Jorgensen and his backup officer attempted to gain control of the suspect. <br />Officer Jorgensen was injured, but managed to keep fighting until several officers arrived and brought <br />the suspect under control. It was found that the suspect had a loaded handgun in the car and was a <br />felon on parole for federal drug charges. He was charged with several felonies and will go back to <br />federal prison. <br />DWI arrest and mock fatality — May 4, 2000 at 0800 hrs <br />Officer Joe Spark from the Roseville Police Department planned this event, coordinating efforts with <br />fire, paramedic and police personnel. The event involved a mock traffic fatality and DWI arrest, with <br />local Roseville Area High School students role-playing as prom attendees, and later as victims and a <br />suspect in a DWI arrest. <br />This event was well planned and well received by the local students and faculty, <br />
