This resident was instrumental in the capture and arrest of the two <br />suspects by her prompt and immediate action. <br />Linda Tally <br />On 1/9/00 Linda Tally of 776 Parker Avenue witnessed a neighbor string a heavy-duty extension cord <br />over a tree limb and attempt to hang himself. She immediately called 911 and then ran to the <br />neighbor's assistance, talking him out of the suicide attempt. She stayed with him until squads <br />arrived. Without Tally's alertness and willingness to help her neighbor, this individual may have <br />succeeded in tragically taking his own life. <br />The following officers will be recognized and awarded with letters of commendation: <br />Offic�r Mike Holtmeier <br />On 5/12/99 Officer Mike Holtmeier was working off duty at 1640 Hwy 36 when he witnessed three <br />suspicious males walk into the elevator of the apartment complex. After determining that the males <br />did not go onto a residential floor, Officer Holtmeier called for assistance from working squads in <br />searching the underground parking area. Officer Holtmeier found that the lock on a door leading to <br />the garage had been freshly damaged in a burglary attempt. Officers found and arrested the three <br />suspects and found burglary tools on their person. The suspects admitted to the burglary with the <br />intention of breaking into cars. If not for Officer Holtmeier's alertness and follow up, the suspects may <br />have gotten away. <br />Officer Kevin Johnson <br />On 12/2/99 Officer Kevin Johnson was responding to a prowler call at 405 S. Owasso Blvd. He <br />noticed a suspicious vehicle leaving the area and made a traffic stop. Officer Johnson saw two <br />crowbars in the vehicle and detained the suspect while other squads checked the location of the call. <br />Officers determined that the house had been burglarized. Officer Johnson arrested the suspects and <br />obtained a full admission that the suspect had broken into one home, and attempted to break into <br />another. Officer Johnson's alertness and decision to stop this car ended in the arrest and clearance <br />of two home invasion burglary cases. <br />Officers Kevin Johnson, Matt Marshall, Butch Perkins and Sgt. Christensen <br />On 5/19/99 Officers Kevin Johnson, Matt Marshall, Butch Perkins and Sgt. Christensen responded to <br />a criminal damage to property in progress at 1850 Chattsworth. Two adult suspects fled the area on <br />foot and were arrested by officers after some effort. The suspects had smashed 5 vehicle <br />windshields, with damage estimated at $8,348. Both suspects were interviewed and admitted their <br />crime. The great teamwork and investigation by these 4 officers led to two arrests and subsequent <br />charges of 1't degree criminal damage to property. <br />Officer Matt Marshall <br />On 7/1/99 Officer Matt Marshall was working off duty at the Super 8 Motel, 2401 Prior Ave. While <br />walking the hallways, he noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from room #227.
