Staff Update <br />� , N I <br />' �1 <br />I nteroffice Memo <br />To: Steve Sarkozy, City Manager <br />From: Cathy Bennett, Economic Development <br />c c: Dennis Welsch, Community Development Director <br />Date: OS/18/00 <br />Re: Wheeler Hardware Request for TIF Assistance — PF3216 <br />Based upon the sma11 amount of available tax increment funds that could be provided to the <br />proj ect, Wheeler Hazdware has withdrawn their interest in making an application for TIF <br />assistance from the City of Roscville for the redevelopment of 2655 Fairview Avenue. <br />Wheeler is still very interested in the site and will be exploring the construction of a joint <br />driveway between 2655 Fairview Ave and the Lidustrial Equities project to the South. The joint <br />driveway would reduce the curb cuts onto the heavily traveled Fairview Avenue and provide an <br />alternate entry to the businesses to the west. <br />Staff will be reviewing altemate funding sources, such as special assessments, to assist in the <br />construction of the joint driveway and will work with Wheeler to access a Ramsey County <br />business loan to reduce the costs of redevelopment. <br />• Page 1 <br />
