MnODOT did repairs to the joints in the area of the common section of I35W/'TH 36. I will request that our maintenance staff inspect these joints again this spring to see if they have worsened since our repairs last fall. M�o/DOT has no immediate plans to reconstruct �his section of freeway in the next ten years. Normal maintenance operations will continue for this roadway during this time period. Mn/DOT has been monitoring noise levels in this area since 1991 (see attached letters dated October28, i991, and Septemberl9, 1997}. This monitoring covered both heights of the noise wall. All levels are in compliance with Federal Noise Abatement Criteria (see attached Criteria) for Interstate Highways. ��T has no plans to remove the e�sting noise wall and construct a new noise wall in tt►�g area. Mnl.�OT, at the direction of the State Legislature, is in t�e process of constructing noise walls in areas that do not have noise walls as part of the 1997 Minnesota Highway Abatement Study (see Legislative Report) and will continue constructing noisewall projects with state funds as part of this Noise Priority Study. Again, Mn/DOT will be doing only the normal maintenance operation with the pavement in this section of I35W. We will not be doing any major reconstruction in the next ten years, and therefore, will not remove and reconstruct a new noise wall. An equal opportunity employer
