EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota, was duly held on the 24th day of July 2000, at 6:30
p. m.
The following members were present:
and the following were absent:
Council Member introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION APPROVING A VARIANCE TO SECTION 1004.O1A13
OF THE ROSEVILLE CITY CODE
FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1858 HAMLINE AVENUE (PF3236)
WHEREAS, Section 1004.01A13 stipulates that accessory structures, principle
structures, pavement surfaces, and concrete surfaces shall not exceed 30% of the total lot area;
and
WHEREAS, Robert Reichenbach & Gail Anderson have requested approval to allow
construction of a 26 foot by 32 foot (832 square foot) detached garage in their rear yard area; and
WHEREAS, the Reichenbach/Anderson request requires an 11% variance to the 30%
(41 % proposed) allowable impervious area and a conditional use permit to increase to building
area in a rear yard from 40% to 45%; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the large detached garage is for storage of a classic car, boat,
a vehicle, and ancillary yard and personal items;
WHEREAS, the Roseville Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on the
request on Wednesday, July 12, 2000, and recommended (6-1) approval a modified variance
based on the following findings:
A. There is a physical hardship in the request by the applicant for a variance to exceed
the permitted lot coverage.
B. The applicant did not create the hardship.
C. There is a unique physical feature to the property that would justify the variance,
specifically the narrow shape of the lot and requiring an etended length of driveway.
