Plan <br />. state of the art amenities <br />. desirable spatial relationships and features reflecting the unique geographical <br />positioning of the park which is situated immediately adjacent to a residential <br />neighborhood and borders one of the busiest intersections in the community. <br />The project is currently planned to be funded from the Park Improvement Program Fund. <br />As a result of Council authorization at the February 28, 2000 meeting, Brauer and <br />Associates working with residents and staff has been working on the master plan for <br />Lexington Park. There have been 4 community meetings soliciting citizen input. <br />Additionally, the plans and information as it has been collected and developed has been <br />posted on the City's Web Page to facilitate additional comments and questions. <br />Attached is a copy of the proposed master plan for Council review and adoption. Jeff <br />Schoenbauer from Brauer and Associates will be at the Council meeting to present the final <br />plans. If the proposed plan is approved, staff is requesting permission to complete the <br />plans and specifications for bid for phase 1 and to enter in to an agreement with Brauer and <br />Associates for the development of the plans and specifications and with R.A. Morton, Inc <br />for Construction Manager services.. The received bids will be presented to the Parks and <br />Recreation Commission for review and to the Council for final approval. <br />POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />The process for developing the Lexington Park Master Plan is consistent with previous park <br />planning initiatives and as directed by the City Council at the December 13,1999 meeting. <br />FINANCIAL IMPLICATION <br />There are no costs associated with the approval of the master plan. If approved, Brauer <br />and Associates will complete the plans and specifications and some supervision for a cost <br />of $40,000. The cost for construction manager services for the development of the park is <br />$11,000. The construction manager will participate in the development of specific cost <br />estimates and the implementation of approved bids per the approved specifications. There <br />is $500,000 budgeted for the initial development of the park. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />The Parks and Recreation Commission and staff recommends that the City Council <br />approve the proposed master plan for Lexington Park and that Brauer and Associates be <br />directed to complete the plans and specifications for bid and that R.A. Morton, Inc. be <br />contracted with to provide construction manager services for this project. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion adopting the proposed Lexington Park Master Plan and the authorization for Brauer <br />and Associates at a cost of $40,000 to complete the plans and specifications as directed <br />and to enter in to a contract with R.A. Morton at a cost of $11,000 for construction manager <br />services for the development of Lexington Park with moneys taken from the PIP budgeted <br />for Lexington Park. <br />E <br />
