Roseville City Council Minutes, November 9, 1998
Page 2 of 6
Roseville communicates with citizens, community groups and state legislators through:
-Roseville Wrap (six issues annually);
-News fax (26 issues annually);
-Community event invitations;
-City packet; and,
-Cable television (channel 15-Public Access; 16-Government Access and 98-All Public Meetings).
IL Roseville encourages citizen participations through:
-Public invitations to serve when volunteer commission vacancies arise;
-Community issues of significance (HWY 361andscaping, County Road C reconstruction, etc.. .); and,
-Community visioning processes.
IIL Roseville additionally communicates with residents through:
-Block parties; and,
-Neighborhood Watch meetings.
Moreover, City operations and services qualify Roseville to participate and secure national accreditation
recognition as well as various awards. These accolades reinforce for citizens, community groups and state
legislators and officials that Roseville meets and exceeds standards for quality services and serves as an
opportunity to build community pride.
The City will continue to communicate with citizens, community groups, and state legislators and officials
through current tools. However, staff will evaluate additional opportunities and techniques to enhance the focus
of the Building Quality Communities campaign. Staff will also monitor the communication methods of the
other participating communities for potential application in Roseville.
In enacting this Resolution the City must designate a contact person to coordinate communication efforts with
the League of Minnesota Cities. That person will be the Assistant City Manager, Christine Butterfield.
Financial•
Not applicable. Current Communications Budget funds cover esting program costs.
Staff Recommendation:
Adopt the Resolution.
Council Action Reauested:
By Resolution Agree to Support and Participate with the League of Minnesota Cities and Other Local
Governments of Minnesota in the `Building Quality Communities" Campaign
