C. Continue the process by waiving the interviews, evaluate the written material submitted and take the <br />appointment action at a Council meeting. <br />Policy Implications <br />The City's policy for encouraging citizen participation in a formal advisory commission is outlined in the attached <br />Resolution 9372. The major concern of the Council appears to center on how they might approach the interview <br />process in a manner that is legal and respectful. <br />Financial Implications <br />There appears to be no major budgeter-y impact in the current alternatives. <br />Staff Recommendation <br />Staff is recommending that, in fairness to the current applicants, the Council waive the interview process on this <br />round and proceed to select the proper number of citizen volunteers for the openings. The application forms ofthe <br />applicants, who wish to yet considered, are provided to the Council for their review and it appears that sufficient <br />information is a�ailable that a reasonably informed decision regarding an appointment could be made. <br />A motion can be made which would name the proper number of candidates for a specific commission opening(s). <br />The motions would continue until a set of names received a maj ority of votes from the Council for each <br />Commission. <br />Council Action <br />Motion to approve to be appointed to the Roseville Planning Commission for the <br />unexpired term ending March 3, 2003. <br />Motion to approve to be appointed to the City of Roseville Parks and Recreation <br />Commission for the unexpired term ending March 3 1,200 1. <br />Motion to waive the twice the applicants provision and to approve <br />and to be appointed to the City of Roseville Human Rights Commission <br />for the unexpired terms ending March 31, 2001, March 31, 2002 and March 31, 2003 respectively. <br />Motion to modify the City's Advisory Commission procedures to include the audio taping requirement, if an <br />interview is required by a majority of the CounciL If no interview is required, the process would be conducted by <br />the Council at a regularly scheduled meeting at which time, nominations and approval votes would be taken. <br />Attachments: <br />Resolution No 93 72 <br />Copy of Survey of Selected Communities <br />List of applicants by Commission <br />Applications of applicants <br />
