Commissioners discussed possible changes to the format and location. They discussed <br />6 involving more members of the community. Commissioners asked that staff put on the website <br />7 that anyone interested in planning the Dialogue 3 contact the City. <br />9 Commissioner Kennedy moved and Commissioner Liz Jaeger seconded to establish a 2010 <br />10 Forum Committee chaired by Thelma McKenzie to plan for next year's diversity dialogue. <br />11 Motion prevailed. <br />12 <br />13 Next Steps with the Commission Board Training and Goal Setting for 2010 <br />14 <br />15 Commissioners discussed the next steps following the November Commission training. <br />16 Commissioner Grefenberg moved and Commission Kennedy seconded that the three committees <br />17 identified in the training be established and be prepared to report on progress in January. Motion <br />18 prevailed. <br />19 <br />20 Future Agenda Items <br />21 <br />~2 Dialogue with Karen community <br />~3 Police Data <br />24 Report on application for civic engagement <br />25 Essay contest <br />26 <br />27 Announcements <br />28 <br />29 Curti reminded Commissioners that the 2010 meeting schedule was included in their packet. <br />30 <br />31 Commissioner Jaeger reported that she, Commissioner Marie Oftelie and Carolyn Curti attended <br />32 the Human Rights Day Conference. They attended the League of Minnesota Human Rights <br />33 Commissions annual meeting. She praised the keynote speaker, Dr. Frank Wu, for his thoughtful <br />34 discussion about being Asian in America. She related that at one of the breakout sessions a <br />35 person made a disparaging comment about the Roseville Police. Curti reported that she spoke <br />36 with the person after the meeting to clarify the complaint. She gave the person her number and <br />37 offered to speak with anyone about any alleged incidents. <br />38 <br />39 Commissioner Kennedy related an incident about the Post Office stopping delivery to an <br />40 apartment complex that housed many Karen families. The apartment building is in Maplewood, <br />41 on the Roseville border, and many of the children attend Roseville schools. The postal carrier <br />42 said he did not feel safe delivering the mail. <br />43 <br />44 Commissioner Kennedy spoke with a MDHR employee, Representative Mindy Greiling and <br />~5 Councilmember Tammy Pust about the situation.
