Regular City Council Meeting <br />Monday, February 22, 2010 <br />Page 4 <br />Johnson moved, Roe seconded, approval of the minutes of the February 13, 2010 <br />Special Strategic Planning meeting as presented. <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Johnson; Pust; Roe; and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br />7. Approve Consent Agenda <br />There were no additional changes to the Consent Agenda than those previously noted. At <br />the request of Mayor Klausing, City Manager Bill Malinen briefly reviewed those items <br />being considered under the Consent Agenda. <br />a. Approve Payments <br />Klausing moved, Johnson seconded, approval of the following claims and pay- <br />ments as presented. <br /> ACH Pa ents 1,248,489.96 <br /> 576450 - 57770 591,963.69 <br /> Total $1,840,453.65 <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Johnson; Pust; Roe; and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br />b. Approve General Purchases and Sale of Surplus Items Exceeding $5,000 <br />Klausing moved, Johnson seconded, approval of general purchases and/or con- <br />tracts as follows: <br />De artment Vendor Item/Descri tion Amount <br />Streets Dee American Cor Crackseal material $6,210.00 <br />Streets Towmaster Inc. Truck chassis, low, win 76,548.52 <br />Police Data 911 19 la to s for Police vehicles 106,639.40 <br />Discussion included the actual cost per unit being inclusive of software and re- <br />lated nuances for activity in a police vehicle, with the units being operational 24/7 <br />and not shut down.; and costs comparable and reflective of industry-wide costs <br />from other vendors during the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process. <br />Acting Police Chief Rick Mathwig advised that the Minneapolis Police Depart- <br />ment had a 10-year use history with this specific brand with great success. <br />Councilmember Pust observed that law enforcement vendors could provide more <br />competition for such units to reduce costs. Councilmember Pust questioned the <br />after-market value of the units. <br />
