With consensus of the Commission, Chair DeBenedet reordered tonight's <br />agenda to hear the Park Master Plan referendum first, then the update from <br />the Roseville Citizen League. <br />4. Park Master Planning Presentation <br />Parks and Recreation Director Lonnie Mr. Brokke advised that a 28- <br />member Citizen Advisory Team (CAT) had been convened in September <br />of 2009 for a ten (10) month review of the Roseville Parks and Recreation <br />System to process situational discussions, receive community input, and <br />facilitate professional findings; and was a direct outcome of the Imagine <br />Roseville 2025 community visioning process to facilitate serving vital <br />community functions, framing future investments and community-defined <br />goals, and shaping the City's Parks and Recreation System over the next <br />twenty (20) years. <br />Mr. Brokke presented an update to the Commission on the status of the <br />Parks and Recreation Master Plan planning process to-date, including a <br />history of the original Master Planning dated in 1960, in addition to <br />several updates since them specific to particular facilities. Mr. Brokke <br />reviewed the purpose of the Master Plan process in ensuring the future <br />investment by the community in its parks and facilities, as well as meeting <br />current and future community needs and priorities. <br />Mr. Brokke reviewed goals of the Master Plan process to engage the <br />community to frame the plan and establish standards or reinforce existing <br />standards to perpetuate ahigh-quality system, which took in to account <br />societal and community changes, allowing the City to be responsive, and <br />to provide an intergenerationalpark system. <br />Mr. Brokke reviewed other avenues being undertaken Community <br />Advisory Team (CAT) that would continue through mid-2010 with a <br />recommendation to the City Council. Mr. Brokke noted distribution of <br />questionnaires and briefly summarized comments received to-date; use of <br />"meetings in a box" to engage residents at meetings already scheduled by <br />other groups and organizations within the community, including affiliated <br />meetings; and sector listening sessions, and community workshops. <br />Mr. Brokke reviewed community meetings held to-date, and those <br />scheduled in the coming months, with the next meeting scheduled at the <br />Fairview Community Center on February 2, 2010 at 6:30 p.m., and a <br />second Community Meeting scheduled on February 10, 2010 at the <br />Roseville Skating Center from 7:00 - 9:30 p.m., and encouraged public <br />attendance and participation.
