Staff <br />488 receives a number of variance requests from single family homeowners requesting mare <br />489 impervious than what is allowed by code. These variances are usually approved by the <br />490 City Variance Boardl. <br />491 <br />492 As an aging suburb, with a confined regional treatment system designed assuming that all <br />493 residential lots are 30% impervious. As a result of this staff recona~nends that when a <br />494 variance is applied for the property owner needs to address the hard surface increase on <br />495 their site through rain gardens or other storm water best management practices to hold the <br />496 rate of runoff at the 30% impervious rate or they need to convert a portion of their hard <br />497 surface to pervious paven~entl pavers etc, resulting in no increase in hard surface. <br />498 <br />499 Actzon to date: <br />500 The following are the homes that were granted lot coverage variances in 2007.
