They are currently looking at developing two facilities to meet this projected
need, including 400 spaces at Twin Lakes and 400 spaces at a to-be-determined site somewhere
along Highway 36 in eastern Roseville.
Shwiff suggested that the City should be identifying any potential transit "golden opportunities".
Schwartz responded that Metro Transit is currently looking for additional opportunities for
developing park & rides.
Schaffer briefly described a metro counties tax that is intended to be available for funding future
park & ride ramps.
Goedeke said that he is shocked that Rosedale is moving away from its support of a park & ride
lot at Rosedale. He recommended that the City be very persistent in trying to retain this park &
ride lot.
Bakeman suggested that the proposed park & ride lot should be designed with the capacity to be
converted to a more full-service transit hub in the future.
Ihlan described how existing I-35W northbound cut-through traffic impacts the area immediately
east of I-35W using County Road C and Fairview Ave or Snelling Ave. She is concerned that
adding Twin Lakes Parkway will create an even more direct east-west connection from I-35W to
Fairview Ave and Snelling Ave.
Grefenberg asked about planning for non-motorized transportation options and whether Snelling
Ave is designated as a bus rapid transit (BRT) corridor. He recommended that the Comp Plan
clearly identify Snelling Ave as a transit corridor.
Schaffer asked why planned new streets in the Twin Lakes area are essentially the only
improvements showing up in the Capital Improvements Program when Twin Lakes Parkway will
just create a new pass-through route.
