5) Health <br />• Users of pathways, whether they walk, bike or in-line skate, will improve their physical fifiess <br />and reduce personal stress. <br />o Pathway trips, when utilitarian, add fitness into ones daily routine. <br />G) Environmental <br />• Using pathways as an alternative to motorized vehicles reduces air or noise pollution. <br />• Bicycling and in-line skating are energy efficient. <br />Pathway use does not consume fossil fuels. <br />Pathway Advisory Committee <br />The Public Works, Environment and Transportation Commission (PWETC) reviewed the goals <br />and strategies including in the 1122025 report and recommended to the City Council that the <br />Pathway Master Plan be updated (Infrastructure, Goal 1, Strategy D1):. In November of 2007 the <br />Council directed staff to seek members for a committee to guide the update and. provide input to <br />staff through this process. A work plan and schedule was also approved by the City Council. <br />Staff advertised for interested community members to volunteer for this committee.
