<br />What bas been happening with the study?

<br />~mce the last open house in February 2009, Ramsey
<br />County, the cities of Maplewood, Roseville, and Little
<br />Canada, and consultant staff have been working
<br />to select a preferred alternative layout for the
<br />interchange. Based on comments received from the
<br />public and further detailed technical analysis, the offset
<br />single point interchange option was selected to move
<br />forward for further review. The process of selecting this
<br />alternative is described in greater detail on the inside
<br />of this newsletter, along with an illustration of what is
<br />proposed.
<br />What's next?
<br />~he PM and preliminary design layout are each in
<br />the process of being reviewed by Mn/DOT. Once these
<br />documents are approved, Ramsey County is prepared to
<br />move the project forward into final design and right•of-
<br />way acquisition so construction can begin in 2010.

<br />Once the preferred alternative was selected, the
<br />team was able to advance the design of the project
<br />` to identify right-of-way, construction, and stormwater
<br />needs, as well as further refine the Rice Street section
<br />of the project. With this information, the environmental
<br />analysis was initiated and documented in a project
<br />memorandum (PM). In addition to documenting the
<br />purpose and need for the project and the alternatives
<br />selection process, the PM evaluates social, economic,
<br />` and environmental issues. Impacts that have been noted
<br />~, include right-of-way, wetlands, water quality, and noise.
