Homes along Oxford will be connecting to the
existing water main in Oxford Street. Start installing
S2NICeS.
° Churchill- The mainline crew will start installing the
water main along the west side of the street.
° Lexington- Once the water main on Churchill is
installed, the mainline crew will move on to install the
water main on the east side of the street.
Week starting 10/19:
° Churchill/ Lexington- The service crew will identify
the path and boring pit locations for the new
services. Start installing services.
° Test mainline water pipe.
° Connect new mainline water pipe to City system.
Week starting 10126:
° Start connecting homes along the west side of
Oxford Street to the existing water main.
Week starting 11/2
° Start connecting homes along Churchill and
Lexington to the new water main.
Project Schedule: The Contractor will have the
new water main operational and the old main
abandoned by November 26th, 2009. Due to the
lateness in the year, it is likely that some of the
restoration will not be completed until June, 2010.
Service Connection Work: We have asked that
the contractor mark the location of boring pits on
private property at least 48 hours in advance of
starting work on service installation. If you have
questions about your service connection, please
contact Dean Findell, Project Coordinator.
The Contractor will notify you at least 24 hours in
advance of switching your home over to the new
watermain. During the time that your service is
switched over you will not have water. This should
be less than 4 hours. We recommend that the first
time you use your water after being reconnected
that you run your faucet for one or two minutes to
clear the line.
Utility Locates: To protect against underground
utility damage, the Contractor will be calling in utility
locates. This is required for anyone digging a hole,
whether it is to plant a tree or replace watermain.
Xcel Energy, Comcast and Qwest will locate their
underground utilities by spray painting and placing
flags in the boulevard. Please do not remove these
flags.
Access; Contractors are required to keep the
roads passable and provide driveway access
whenever possible. The construction project will be
staged so that residents and emergency vehicles
will be able to drive on the streets at all times. If you
have special access needs, let us know.
Mail Delivery 8~ Garbage Pick up: The
construction work should not impact your mail
delivery or garbage pick up. Schedules and times
should remain unchanged.
Private Systems/ Gardens: Over the course of
this project the contractor will be digging in various
areas. If you have underground sprinklers,
electrical far yard lights, perennial gardens, or
invisible fences installed within 20 or 25 feet of the
edge of the street or in your yard, they need to
know where they are. Removal and reinstallation
of these items is the responsibility of the property
owner. Please mark with paint or flags the location
of underground wires or sprinklers immediately. If
these items are not marked, the contractor may
damage them when they start construction. The
City will not pay to repair or replace unmarked
systems.
Safety: Your assistance in maintaining a safe work
area is important. The size, weight, noise and dust
created by construction traffic make it difficult for
workers to watch onlookers. Heavy equipment
operators must concentrate on the job at hand and
may not notice children playing near or behind
equipment.
Please remind children to stay clear of the
construction area and equipment both during
working and non-working hours.
Residents should use caution at all times while
driving through the construction zone and be alert
for moving equipment, holes, trenches and other
hazards in the work zone.
P.E., Civil Engineer (651) 792-7048
Project Coordinator (651) 792-7046
Check for construction updates at: www.cityofroseville.com/projects.
