Special Education and Outreach
Roseville's Earth Day
On April 1 S, 2009, Eureka Recycling participated in the City of Roseville's Earth Day
event at Harriet Alexander Nature Center. Approximately 500 Roseville residents
enjoyed getting up close to Rosie, the award-winning recycling collection vehicle that
was named in Roseville. Eureka Recycling staff had many conversations with residents
about the recycling program and about waste reduction. In addition Eureka Recycling
provided Zero Waste services, allowing residents to really experience that waste is
preventable! At the Roseville Earth Day event 92.5 pounds of recycling and 33.1 S
pounds of compostable materials were diverted from the waste stream.
Zero Waste Composting/Recycling services
The City of Roseville's strong commitment to waste reduction allowed additional
events to benefit from zero waste services. The City of Roseville collected recycling and
composting at the Roseville Home Improvement Fair, the Run for the Roses, and the
Wild Rice Festival and partnered v~rith Eureka Recycling to ensure these materials were
diverted from the waste stream.

Make Dirt
~
Not Waste '
