Roseville PWET Commission Meeting Minutes <br />Page 2 -January 26; 2010 <br />Parks and Recreation Director Lonnie Mr. Brokke advised that a 28-member <br />Citizen Advisory Team (CAT) had been convened in September of 2009 for a ten <br />(10) month review of the Roseville Parks and Recreation System to process <br />situational discussions, receive community input; and facilitate professional <br />findings; and was a direct outcome of the Imagine Roseville 2025 community <br />visioning process to facilitate serving vital community functions, framing future <br />investments and community-defined goals, and shaping the City's Parks and <br />Recreation System aver the next twenty (20) years. <br />Mr. Brokke presented an update to the Commission on the status of the Parks and <br />Recreation Master Plan planning process to-date, including a history of the <br />original Master Planning dated in 1960, in addition to several updates since them <br />specific to particular facilities. Mr. Brokke reviuwcd the purpose of the Master <br />Plan process in ensuring the future investment bj~ .the e;uninninity in its parks and <br />facilities, as well as meeting current and fut~,ire ct~mrttunity ndcds and priorities. <br />Mr. Brokke reviewed goals of the Masten- Plan process to engage the community <br />to frame the plan and establish standards _c,r rei~itorce existing standards to <br />perpetuate a high-quality system, which t~jcik in to account societal and <br />community changes, allowi :.g the City to be responsive, and. to provide an <br />~.. <br />intergenerational park system.` <br />Mr. Brokke reviewed other avenues ]~eng undertaken Community Advisory <br />Team (CAT) that would continue through mid-2010 with a recommendation to <br />the City Council'.: Mr.; Brokke noted distribution of questionnaires and briefly <br />summarized cc»nnlents received to-date; use of "meetings in a box" to engage <br />residents at meetings already scheduled by other groups and organizations within <br />the community, t~cl~idng affiliated rtteetings; and sector listening sessions, and <br />community «~orksl~c>ps. <br />11~1r. Brokke rzview:ed co~t~tnunity meetings held to-date, and those scheduled in <br />the coming months, with the next meeting scheduled at the Fairview Community <br />Center on February 2, 2010 at 6:30 p.m., and a second Community Meeting <br />scheduled. on February 10, 2010 at the Roseville Skating Center from 7:00 - 9:30 <br />p.m., and encouraged public attendance and participarion. Mr. Brokke advised <br />that more detailed. information was available on the City's website at <br />www.cityofroseville:com and encouraged everyone's attendance at public <br />meetings andl'or to provide their comments to h.im directly by phone at 651/792- <br />7101 <br />Mr. Brokke noted that the planning process had become more than just parks and <br />recreation, but about the community and integration of various areas through <br />connectivity and gathering places. Mr. Brokke advised that, once public input is <br />received, Technical Advisory Team advisors comprised of City Department <br />Heads, City Manager Malinen, Moundsview and Roseville School District <br />representatives, Watershed District representatives; the Minnesota Parks and <br />
