j~ince the last open house in May 2009, Ramsey
County, Mn/DOT, the cities of Maplewood, Roseville,
and Little Canada, and consultant staff have been
working toward the final design of the Rice Street/
Highway 36 interchange, and associated improvements
to Rice Street between County Road B and County
Road 62. The first steps in the final design process
began in June 2009, and since then, staff has been
working through a more detailed analysis of the various
components of the project, including roadway and
interchange design, access modifications, bridge design,
retaining walls, and stormwater pcnds. Final construction
plans will be completed by the end of January 2010,
at which time they will be reviewed by the Minnesota
Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT).
Environmental documentation for the project was
approved by Mn/DOT in September 2009, This
allowed Ramsey County to move forward with the
property acquisition phase of the project. There are
29 parcels in the corridor that will be affected by the
proposed project, either through partial/full acquisition
or easement. A majority of these parcels are located
on the Rice Street portion of the corridor and most
frequently are impacted by roadway widening or
access modifications. Property owners have been
