McCarrons Neighborhood Focus Group Meeting
Task Force Meeting
March 30, 2004
Galilee Lutheran Church, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Attendees:
Pastor Richard Carlson, Donna Dean, Dennis Guptil, George Johnson, Dan
Jeans, Duane Haukebo, Al Garlough, John Palmer, Jerome Wagner, Barbara Wagner,
Tony Fautsel
City of Roseville: Cathy Bennett, Dennis Welsch
Meeting Notes
Dennis and Cathy welcomed everyone and asked for introductions. (Thanks to Galilee for
hosting the meeting.)
Cathy provided a summary of the draft master plan and suggested future land use
scenarios. Cathy indicated that the plan was a draft and the reason for the meeting was to
gain feedback from the neighborhood task force.
Participant Comments regarding the draft plan and suggested future land uses and
proposed phasing for implementation
Guptil Site Development – Phase I
Encourages senior housing, not apartments – there are already many apartments
and are concerned regarding a large impact on the school district
The school district should have an opportunity to comment on the future land uses
and the master plan.
Should be high density. The site would support high density since it is a central
location with high traffic and access to services.
This site has great connections to the social and religious services that are
important to seniors and the existing neighborhoods.
Seniors want to stay in the community and close to these services.
Would like senior housing to be identified as the preferred future land use not
single family or townhomes on the south side of the property.
Quality of new development is important.
Guptil is proposing quality uses such as brick and stucco with a flat roof rather
than vinyl.
An art deco style was mentioned to complement the Armory Building which
should be saved.
