<br />REQUEST FOR HRA DISCUSSION <br />DATE: 08/17/04 <br />ITEM NO: 9.d. <br />Staff Approval: Agenda Section: <br />CB Discussion <br />Item Description(HF 0004) <br />: Discuss Draft Multi-Family Study Report <br />1.0Background <br />Staff, with the assistance of Jill Mazullo, has been completing the written portion of the <br />th <br />multi-family study report. As of August 12, the draft report was not available for <br />distribution in the packet. However, the redraft is expected to be delivered to the City by <br />August 17th. If it is available, staff will forward a copy to each HRA member by email. <br />If not, staff will bring the report to the HRA meeting on Tuesday. <br />Since the report is not immediately available, staff will provide a summary of the <br />information in the report and request that additional discussion and detail be provided by <br />the HRA members prior to the September meeting. The report will be ready for <br />acceptance by the HRA at the September meeting. In addition, staff will provide a <br />summary of the report to the City Council as part of the August 23 Housing Summit. <br />2.0Summary of Multi-Family Study Report: <br />The report provides the following: <br />a. the status of Roseville’s multi-family housing stock with comparisons to <br />the single family housing stock. <br />b.a summary of what multi-family housing is and what its importance is in <br />the balance of neighborhoods within the community. <br />c. the types of population that it serves – young professional, young family, <br />college student, and elderly. <br />The report includes the data collected by the City and HRA through a contracted <br />agreement with Excensus (John Carpenter) who has access to a wide variety of detailed <br />demographic information. <br />When complete, the report will be broken down into the following categories: <br />1.Executive Summary <br />Introduction – <br />2.answers to some basic questions about multi-family housing <br />and why it is important to different sections of the population and how the <br />City of Roseville serves its residents with this type of housing. <br />What is “Multi-Family” Housing? <br />Why is Multi-Family Housing Important? <br />An Option for the Younger Population <br />Multi-Family Study Report (8-17-04) - Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />
