Roseville Human Rights Commission <br />DRAFT Minutes -March 9, 2010 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />•91 Commissioner Grefenberg moved and Commissioner Yates seconded a motion for the Roseville <br />92 Human Rights Commission to partner with the Roseville School, Roseville Fire Department and <br />93 Roseville Police Department to sponsor a Karen Refugee Forum as outlined in the February 18 <br />94 memo. Motion passed unanimously. <br />95 <br />96 Commissioner Yates suggested the commission make a commitment to a certain amount of <br />97 money to make sure this forum occurs. Commissioners encouraged Mahmud to seek funding <br />98 from other resources. She said she would look for funding from whatever places possible. <br />99 <br />100 Commissioner Yates moved and Commissioner Jaeger seconded motion to donate $100 to help <br />101 start raising money for the forum and encourage Mahmud to seek funding from other sources. <br />102 Motion prevailed. <br />103 <br />104 5. Future Agenda Items <br />111 <br />12 Commissioner Yates asked about the Police Department press release about the incident at <br />~13 Rosedale Mall. Chair Singleton explained that he asked that to be included, since several <br />1 14 commissioners askr.d about what had happened. He indicated that there was no reason to believe <br />1 15 the fight was related to a human rights issue. <br />116 <br />1 17 Commissioner Grefenberg asked that the City include a statement about seeking volunteers on <br />1 18 the Human Rights website. Chair Singleton asked that the Program Planners subcommittee look <br />119 into it before making a recommendation. <br />120 <br />121 7. Announcements <br />122 <br />123 Chair Singleton distributed certificates to each of the commissioners for completion of the <br />124 governance training and strategic planning. <br />125 <br />126 Curti distributed an update about Imagine Roseville. Staff had identified items that have been <br />127 done, are in process, ongoing or not yet begun. She said that City Manager Bill Malinen asked <br />128 that Commissioners review and provide any feedback they may have on any of the items. <br />129 Commissioners were asked to review and send comments to Curti before the end of the month. <br />130 <br />131 8.
