Statement of Need (continued)
c. Budget (itemized)
Consultant $750-$1000 Transportation $150 Publicity $100T~ra
TY4.WS`C~'~cl~~. ~SVu
d. How does this positively impact community?
We hope to create a more open community as people get to
know each other and understand their perspectives arid life
experiences. We hope to help our residents to get involved in
their neighborhoods, other community/civic activities.
To~`t-\ 1v1 ofi -fu ~e`K. eel ~ / s'oU
Capacity Building & Outreach
Relate the project to your mission or long-term plan, human rights audience, and capacity building.
Capacity Building
We hope to involve residents to know how to interact with
itheir local government. We believe members of the public will
feel more comfortable about getting involved and speaking
up when they have a general understanding of how the
process works and when they know others involved in their
local government.
Strategic Planning
As an increasingly diverse and aging suburb, our community is
rapidly changing. New people, often with different customs,
cultures or lifestyles are moving in. We hope to create
opportunities for people to come together in a respectful
environment to discuss concerns and gain a better
understanding of how to effect improvements through the
democratic process.
Social Justice
The Human Rights Commission hopes to create more opportunities for open discussions and to empower our residents to speak up
when they see injustices.
Education and Outreach Describe your involvement in this area. How does it relate to capacity building
development and/or activity development, for example.
VJe hope to engage new people in our civic engagement efforts. The HRC has hosted two community forums and have engaged a
diverse group in planning and participating in these forums. We are looking to expand that outreach through connections we've
made there as well as through the schools, civic organizations, businesses, churches and individuals who have expressed interest in
greater involvement.
Contractor/Vendor Identify any proposed contractor(s)/vendor(s) if known.
We do not know who the specific vendor for civic engagement will be.
We would likely work with Roseville Area Schools -Transportation and Translation Services. We will likely work with local businesses,
local newspaper, and others for publicity and miscellaneous expenses.
page 2 End of form. Please mail or fax to MDHR. (see instructions at top)
