age 18 W TLfC Spring -Summer 1 5
i
Governer Arnie Calson proclaimed the
week of June 5th to June 11th Flash Flood
Awareness Week. This proclamation
addresses Flash Floods which are very
distinct from the Spring flooding Which
typically results from snow melt runoff and
spring rains. Spring flooding is more
predictable since ground water moisture,
stream flows. and water equivelent of the
snow cover are known variables in
predicting spring floods. Flash flooding
results from intense rainfall of thunder-
storms. These summertime storms are
highly unpredictable and can produce flood
flows in extremely short periods of time.
~ ti
~f
~ _ ~
~~
°au«' W''..-....-ate. i.. rw ~ wi.- ..n... ~ r....n
r~~ .~.n
®.i - iLLNf i~ .lu ul -~
141tv.H rwn~~iGwatl „ .U. wn+~tis~ .m-. utY~N H
[1... eM -.
