Grass lake Water Management Organitation <br />March 28, 1996 <br />Jack Frost <br />Metropolitan Council <br />230 East Fifth Street <br />St. Paul, Minnesota 55101 <br />RE: Rice Creek Watershed Youth Stewardship and Public Awareness Project <br />Dear Mr. Frost: <br />Grass Lake Water Management Organization is interested in being a partner in the <br />Rice Creek Watershed Youth Stewardship and Public Awareness Project. We <br />understand that the Minnesota Community Education Association (MCEA) is <br />applying for a Twin Cities Water Quality Initiative grant from the Metropolitan <br />Council, and we would be supportive of their effort to improve water quality in our <br />area. <br />Because the Grass Lake Watershed shares a school district with the Rice Creek <br />Watershed, we believe that there would be significant benefit to being included in the <br />proposed Youth Stewardship and Public Awareness Program. We feel the potential <br />water quality monitoring, erosion control, storm drain stenciling and public education <br />efforts of the youth and community groups of the area would benefit the overall water <br />quality of the receiving waters within our watershed, and such efforts are in <br />conformance with the goals and objectives of our organization. <br />The Grass Lake Water Management Organization has a.sincere interest in developing <br />and facilitating Community Education and Public Awareness as it relates to water <br />quality, and would urge favorable consideration of the grant application for the Rice <br />Creek Watershed Youth Stewardship and Public Awareness Program.
