Highway 96 -Segment 3
The Ramsey .County project is progressing slowly. Gas (NSP) and telephone (US West).
crews are nearly done with the on-site relocating their utilities for this phase. Electric
(NSP) has begunraising overhead lines in the fill areas. Meredith Cable and NSP
Electric have completed joint trench burying of cables on the south side of Highway 96 at
Lexington Only the cut over to these new facilities remains to be done on the east/west
portion.. More work remains on the north/south' portion on Lexington Avenue.
Delays due to additional mucking and the recent wet weather have slowed the project.
Storm sewer work is progressing towards Lexington Avenue. The sedimentation ponds
have been consructed and are functioning. By next week all the main line storm sewer
should be completed from Dale to Lexington. Additional mucking needs to be completed
at Dale before the storm sewer and water main can be installed from Dale to Mackubin.
The current schedule for concrete road paving is anticipated to be mid- August.
b. Community Center Underpass
MN/DOT has awarded the contract to Shafer Construction.. The pre-cast culvert sections
.have been manufactured and no delay in the Highway 96 project is expected as result of
the underpass project. Installation of the underpass will occur along with Highway 96
construction contract.
c. Horseshoe Drive
A second informational newsletter has been sent to affected residents. The storms caused
sloppy road conditions, but the project remains on schedule. Additional steps have been
.taken to reduce the sediment entering Lake Wabasso. Over the next few weeks the storm
sewer will be installed and work on the water services will continue. It is anticipated that
all underground utility work will be completed by the end of the month.
