Comments on Use of the Watershed Exhibit. <br />~' Aouatennial -Shelley said that the location next to the River was well suited. The event had upper <br />hundreds in attendance and people spent a tot of time in the tent. <br />~' Uptown.Art Fair -Marie said that the event was successful with a lot of positive feedback from <br />visitors to the Shed. The Minneapolis Water Quality Education Citizens Advisory Committee gave <br />out free cans of mineral water. Many visitors who would come in for the water, were drawn to the <br />attractive exhibit and would stick around to view the exhibit. <br />~' Oakdale -Louise had the tent at an Oakdale festival and for which the City sent out a certificate of <br />appreciation to the Partners. <br />~ Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District Ooen House -The exhibit was one of the features of <br />the open house which was attended by other adjacent watershed districts. <br />~' River Rendezvous :Lyndon said several hundred people visited the exhibit: <br />Upcoming Watershed Appearances . <br />~' HighlandFest = at the lock and dam <br />~' 8/16 Mounds Park for a neighborhood event <br />~' 8/17 CedarFest - MNRRA <br />~' Sunday September 7"' - St. Paul Bike Classic, 6000 riders anticipated, additional. help would be <br />appreciated from gam -1 pm. <br />~' /13 - 16 American Public Works Association national convention, 3000 registered attendees, <br />Minneapolis. Public Worlcs.wil! have the puzzle component and the pump component a4 their table in <br />the lobby <br />/17 APWA convention, fu}I exhibit will be at the St Paul Public Works Open House which is part of <br />,the convention activities,.. ~ _ ~ _ -?.. ._ ~ •-},~~.. _ ,:•.:. - <br />.. , . - - <br />Media and Outreach .-~ ~. ~ ~ ~~ -~ ~ . <br />Barb reported that_a detailed workplan wiU be complete within the: next few weeks complete with.. <br />strategies for the components of radio, grocery bags, and newspaper inserts. The message and logo will <br />be developed this fall for a Spring 1998 and Fall 1998 media campaign. The work team is looking to <br />build on evaluation work which has already been done as a part of other projects and to present a <br />consistent message metro-wide. Jim took a poll at the meeting: whether or not Partners were in favor of <br />billboards. The group was split 50-50 just as the media work team had been. Louise mentioned that she <br />had seen findings that people do not prefer billboards but do prefer refrigerator magnets. Tracy said that <br />the Watershed Partner / BWSR group mix has been positive and has worked well. <br />Watershed Exhibit Care and Maintenance `~ <br />Tracy discussed the rip in the tent, the repairs that wer e made, and that those putting up the tent should <br />stake down the center of the tent to minimize the risk of future damage. There was some discussion <br />about contribution to a maintenance fund either by annual fee or per usage fee on a voluntary basis. <br />This issue was tabled due to time constraints and will be revisited at a future meeting. <br />State Fair <br />Tickets and information packets were handed out for the State Fair shifts at the Watershed in the DNR <br />building. The MNRRA interactive computer program will also be in the center of the building.
