Louise will lend a copy to interested parties - - = - "~~: " <br />~' Charlotte ~ = "° The Dakota County Environmental Education Program has received $81-,000 <br />grant from the EPA to develop wetland health monitoring protocols that. citizens can implement as . <br />volunteers. Proposed. projects will include biological indicators such as plants, macro-invertebrates ` <br />. .and frogs. _ - ~ _. <br />~' Barb Part of the PCA's 319 proposals will include alum treatment for metro area lakes. <br />Also, PCA funding for Joe Schimmel's work will be continued. - - - - <br />~' Dan Dan has been leading the multi-organizational application for consideration ~of the <br />Upper Reach of the Mississippi River as a heritage river. The focus is activities on the river, <br />education and land use planning: identifying barriers and which barriers need federal assistance. <br />~' Lyndon Lyndon reminded Partners of the August 15~' deadline for the EPA's sustainable <br />development challenge grant applications. The grant program has $5 million which is intended to <br />target projects by non-profit stakeholders. Also MNRRA has new brochures with information on the <br />river corridor. <br />~' Apple Friends of the Mississippi River is coordinating the volunteer program for catch <br />basin stenciling in St. Paul. If anyone knows of groups who are looking for a public service project, <br />Friends is !ooksng for more volunteer groups to stencil <br />Anne & Marie This fall, both Minneapolis and St. Paul Public Works are going to be putting out <br />test batches of the new catch basin stencil stickers to see how well they weather the winter. St. Paul <br />Public Works Traffic shop will be printing the stickers for both Minneapolis and St. Paul. Barb & <br />Char mentioned that the City of Eagen is placing permanent RepNet discs into the concrete in high <br />traffic areas as part of its stenciling program. <br />~' Deb The Minneapolis Park Board, in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture, <br />will be putting an informational flyer in the September Minneapolis water bills which discusses <br />responsible lawn care and leaves. <br />~' Pout The Science Museum is developing an exhibit on the Phalen wetland restoration <br />for the wetland interpretive center.
