BWSR Meeting Minutes <br />December 16, 1998 <br />Page Nine <br />partnership training effort. Tim also presented Greg Larson with an award for soil <br />survey efforts. <br />"Soundings: A Minnesota Water Plan Assessment" -Marilyn Lundberg, Minnesota <br />Planning, presented the water plan goals; integrated water management; focusing on <br />the resource; protecting and conserving water resources; managing water's <br />interconnections; areas where progress is limited; and the Next Step: The Minnesota <br />Water Plan 2000. Marilyn requested that BWSR be involved. Chair Roer asked board <br />members to assist by filling out the questionnaire and sending it to Minnesota Planning. <br />Chair Roer thanked Marilyn for her presentation. <br />Advisory Comments <br />- Franklin Denn, MAT, stated that rural areas and townships are headed for tough <br />times. Franklin announced that MAT's legal seminar will be held January 28-29. <br />-Tim Koehler, NRCS, stated that MRCS is receiving budget numbers, fairly positive, <br />however, they will know more on Friday when they meeting with officials in Chicago. <br />Tim stated that the training partnership with BWSR was a good effort. Tim requested <br />that Howard Moechnig's partnership effort be highlighted at a future board meeting. <br />Ron Harnack mentioned that additional training should focus on sexual harassment and <br />diversity. <br />Rick Reimer, MACDE, reported that there was good attendance at the MASWCD <br />convention. He congratulated Allan Oehlke for receiving the outstanding SWCD <br />supervisor award. Rick stated that his four-year term as MACDE director has expired; <br />he thanked BWSR for support during his term. <br />LeAnn Buck, MASWCD, also congratulated Allan Oehlke on receiving his award. <br />Le^,nn stated that resolutions have been formulated regarding governance, funding, <br />and legislative issues. LeAnn announced that Sheila Vanney has been hired as <br />MASWCD's communications/training coordinator. Sheila will be starting later this <br />month. Chair Roer congratulated LeAnn on her new position as executive director of <br />MASV~'CD. Chair Roer also congratulated Allan Oehlke on his award. <br />Upcoming Meetings <br />-The next BWSR meeting will be held January 27 in St. Paul. <br />-NAC ~ North Central Region ivieeting, in Chicago, January 5-6. Ron Harnack and Jim <br />Birkholz will attend. <br />
