The Riley Purga-
tory Bluff Creek Watershed District is
ready for the new century and also
wants to celebrate 30 years of accom-
plishments.
The MAWD Summer Tour will focus
on the RPBC-WD growth and change,
with special emphasis on how we
collaborate with state and local govern-
ments, and promote education through
our citizens advisory committee. From
the beginning the RPBC-WD has been
a region on the edge of change from
rural, and agricultural land use to full
and complete development.
vetoes, MAWD was successful in
many of it's initiatives. Ray Bohn and
I want to express our sincere thank you
to all who helped make this a success-
ful year. We know at times that it may
be difficult for you to get away to
come to the capitol, but your presence
and participation has been a vital part
of our success over the years. I
especially want to thank those who
attended this year's Legislative Break-
fast. The impression you left with
your legislative members was very
helpful in shaping our success.
Don't forget to mark your calendar for
the MAWD Annual Meeting on
December 2-4, 1999. We are working
on again expanding our educational
efforts and should have more to report
to you in our next newsletter.
~_~~~
__ ,
,,
~`~+
-,
,~
If ~,
~--.~
~i
II,_III1
~~
~~' ~,-
~''' ~r-
~_ ~~--~~
-~ ,~_
- _ ,i
~_ !,i
li-~'
~~
~i-1)
J
-~
~_'i
!-
'-%i
I ,~
~fi
In its thirty year "lifetime" the Riley
Purgatory Bluff Creek Watershed
District has had the good fortune to
Learn from and "grow up" with many
supporters including citizens, cities,
counties agencies and the state.
As a member of the Board of Mangers
of Riley Purgatory Bluff Creek Water-
shed District, I believe we have a story
to tell and hope all of the MAWD
Members will plan to attend.
We've just finished another hectic
legislative session and I'm glad to
report that even with the governor's
Published by
es®t~ Ass®eialt~®n
®f atersed istricts
Editorial Office:
3848 Westbury Drive
St. Paul, MN 55123-2080
Phone: 651-452-8506
Fax: 651-686-8679
E-mail: raybohnmga@aol.com
www. mnwatershed.org
Ray Bohn: Administrator & Editor
Hope to see you on June 24th in
Bloomington!
HOSTED BY
RILEY PURGATORY BLUFF CREEK WATERSHED DISTRICT,
30 YEARS OLD THIS YEAR!
®~,~ r®~ect Dears ~a~cusi~n
The MAWD/LCMR study is into its
last days and will come to an end on
June 30th. In addition to the video, the
signs of success training and the
database of water quality projects
statewide, we will have two project
reports available for distribution
around the middle of June.
The first is a twenty page
condensed report on the project
results. This colorful smaller report
will be mailed out to all watershed
organizations. It will also be made
available on the MAWD website and
at the MAWD Summer Tour.
The second larger report
(approximately 150 pages) contains
all the detailed project results
including case studies of the states
most successful watershed organiza-
tions, a database of water quality
projects undertaken across the state
and the organizations that have
undertaken them.
We will be presenting the project
findings at the MAWD annual meeting
in December. In addition, our work
will live on through Project Manager
Kathy Draeger who received a Bush
Fellowship to further study project
findings and compare watershed efforts
in this state with others worldwide.
Thanks to all again for your participa-
tion in, and support for, this project. It
has been a real pleasure to work with
you.
Environmental Ground, Inc.
Ph: 651-224-8488
Fax: 651-222-5802
