Calt Julie @659-772-7938 or :mail to Julie.westerlund@dnr.state.mn.us
This D13AFT section is a brainstorffi of goals, strategies, and actions- it focuses on the three main
categories identified in the watershed description: 1) physical conditions affecting surface water
drainage, 2) groundwater, and 3) in-stream features.
For each category, the following were identified:
-goals
®current conditions
®threats'aaad opportunities
~a general strategy
D specific strategies
© tasks for each specific strategy
• implementation teams for each task
>indicators for each goal
Please be prepared to discuss this section at the newt meetino As you read, please keep
the following in mind:
1) Strategies and tasks are not listed in priority orders They. aze a brainstormed list of many
possibilities. The CACJTAC will add, delete, and pr;tor>ttize strateeso
2) Implementation teams aze not listed in priority order, and in many cases they may have
inciuded/e~cluded a group that does not/daes belong. Please evaluate each carefully. The
CAC~AC will assign a teaffi, c®ffiplete with a lead group or individualo
3) Some tasks list `Advisory Committee' as aaask implementer. After the plan is completed
and implementation begins, the members `of the current Technical Advisory Committee will
participate in specific tasks,,but the committee as we know it would only meet on a limited,
as-needQd basis. The `Advisory Committee' as noted under implementation teams in this : _
~,. document vvouid be a large, ffiore active, citizemm-based group (with technical ~;~,~ .
supp®rt'a§ ni;~ded). They hopefully would take much of the responsibility for seeing`that `i~_~
tasks are implemented, and they would probably meet on a somewhat regular basis to
track implementati®n and identify new concerns or projectso The current CACPTAC
can further clarify future `Advisory Committee'roles.
4) Some of the specific strategies and tasks are currentlybeing worked on or have already been
completed, and will be included as part of the subwatershed management plan. For
example, specific strategy #3.3.E (Develop a buffer plan) has been identified by the
TAC/CAC as an important component of the overall plan and is in progress. Dy
prioritizing strategies and tasks now, the TAC/CAC will be able to identify those
plan elements which are the ~n®st critical now, and which can be coffipleted later.
At'this point, please think of this section as a tool to guide us through the plann;ng process
and into plan implementation.
'~If you are unable to make the meeting in early January, please phone, email, mail or faa comments to Julie
Westerlund, M1V DIVR, 1200 Warner Road, St. Paul, 55106 (fa~:651-772-?977) bef®re the meeting.
