Section 3 <br />Strategies for Physical Conditions Affecting Surface Water Drainage <br />an Arbor Day tree planting event. <br />Implementation Team: Landowners, developers, TU, Advisory <br />Committee, DNR, Washington SWCD. <br />Specific Strategy: A) Develop and implement a Land Protection Plan <br />'B) Develop or revise current stormwater management plans to <br /> reduce future increases in the volume of stormwater runoff <br /> by minimizing impervious surfaces and encouraging <br /> infiltration <br /> .r strongly encourage the use of Best Management Practices <br /> wherever possible in the watershed <br /> - encourage on-site (preferred) or regional infiltration of <br /> stormwater <br /> - educate landowners about intermittent and ephemeral <br /> drainage systems <br />C) Develop a flood protection plan. <br />D) Develop an erosion control plan. <br />E) Develop a buffer plan. <br />F) Ensure septic systems are up to code. <br />G) Foster the use of "green" lawn care products and techniques, proper <br /> disposal of chemicals, proper use of herbicides and pesticides, and <br /> locations of pastures. <br />Actions and Bl) Develop a checklist based on the BMP manual (Appendix X) as part <br />Implementation of the VBWD permit process. Developers will be asked to check <br />Team(s): which of the BMPs . For items not included in their plans, <br /> developers will need to briefly explain why there were not included. <br /> The checklist will encourage developers to consider methods that <br /> will reduce the volume of stormwater runoff and improve water <br /> quality. <br /> Implementation Team: VBWD <br />B2) Complete several stormwater demonstration projects through the <br /> state and metropolitan area. The projects should test a variety of <br /> methods to detain and infiltrate stormwater on-site, monitor results, <br /> and assess their applicability to developing and redeveloping land in <br /> the watershed. <br /> Implementation Team: MAWD <br />B3) Once more information becomes available regarding operational and <br /> maintenance issues of the infiltration practices, modify and <br /> implement specific VBWD rules. <br />- Implementation Team: VBWD <br />B4) Require that new developments and redevelopments infiltrate <br />3-8 <br />
