This award is <br />presented annually to the watershed <br />district that exhibits the ability or <br />willingness to work in partnership with <br />a variety of organizations and individu• <br />als. <br />The Roseau River Watershed District <br />was recognized for demonstrating <br />leadership in adopting an inclusive <br />planning process where all interested <br />parties are invited to the table to <br />participate in developing watershed <br />plans. In addition, the watershed <br />district has supported a comprehensive <br />watershed planning approach, has been <br />promoting innovative flood damage <br />reduction projects, developed their own <br />watershed-wide streamfow data <br />collection network, created afull-time <br />administrator position, and formed a <br />ten-member international flood com- <br />mittee that includes five Minnesota <br />members and five Manitoba members. <br />Farrell Erickson, Badger, MN, Chair <br />of the Roseau River Watershed District <br />said, `~1e are very pleased to receive <br />this statewide recognition for all of the <br />hard work of the watershed district the <br />past several years. Working with <br />people is the key to our success as a <br />watershed district." <br />In addition to Erickson, the Board of <br /> <br />Managers for the Roseau River <br />Watershed District includes Ray <br />Moser, Roseau, Allison Frislie, <br />Lancaster, Laverne Voll, Saloi, and <br />LeRoy Carriere, Roseau, MN. <br />Recent past managers include Steve <br />Erickson, Roseau, Robert Severson, <br />Wannaska, and Kehnan Kviem, <br />Roseau. <br />111YlOSOt~ 1C~lll~~e ~O lll~ll° ~LICCOSS <br />Over eighty watershed district managers, star, <br />county commissioners and county staff, state <br />officials, and numerous others involved in <br />drainage across Minnesota participated in the <br />1999 MAWD Minnesota Drainage Law & <br />Procedure seminar offered in early <br />December. Kurt Deter, partner with Rinke- <br />Noonan Law Firm in St. Cloud was the <br />seminar presenter. Plans are already under- <br />way for the 2nd Annual MAWD Drainage <br />Seminar in late 2000. Watch for more details <br />in the future. <br />
