~~ <br />INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM <br />TO: STEVE SARKOZY, CITY MANAGER <br />FROM: KARL KEEL, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: GRASS LAKE WATERSHED MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION MEMBERSHIP <br />DATE: JANUARY l 1, 2000 <br />The Grass Lake Watershed Management Organization (GLWMO) is a joint powers organization <br />that manages water resources in the northeastern portion of Roseville and southern Shoreview. <br />A 5-member board, appointed by the Roseville and Shoreview City Councils, governs GLWMO. <br />Board members serve three-year terms -with two members from Roseville and two from <br />Shoreview. Appointment of the fifth member is rotated between the two cities.. <br />GLWMO is currently preparing its 2°d generation watershed management plan - a task that takes <br />a great deal of effort and commitment from board members. Once the plan is completed, likely <br />in 2001, the board will need to review member cities 2°d generation plans far compliance with <br />the GLWMO plan. Consistency in Board membership will greatly improve the process of <br />developing and reviewing these plans. Accordingly, the GLWMO Board is requesting that both <br />the Roseville and Shoreview City Councils make appointments to ensure stable board <br />membership over the next few years.
