BWSR Meeting Minutes <br />May 24, 2000 <br />Page Nine <br />State Envirothon Update -Susan Tsakakis reported that the State Envirothon was held <br />-- - - ~ l~ ed~a~ cad--F-~l#~~~" ~. r,. _.r n ,. ~ ,_. ~,. ,, <br />.TI~-I-I'l7T'-G-~ ~J <br />the winner, they will now move on to the National Envirothon in Nova Scotia, Canada, <br />July 31-August B. Chair Roer thanked Susan for her enthusiasm and great efforts in <br />organizing and working on the Envirothon. Chair Roer reported that Susan will be <br />greatly missed as she is leaving-BWSR as of May 31 to be a stay-at-home. mom_ <br />Susan thanked Mary Jo Anderson for her assistance in making the Envirothon a <br />success. <br />Advisory Comments <br />Minnesota Association of Townships (MAT) -Franklin Denn encouraged board <br />members to attend the MAT summer meeting, June 5-6 in Willmar. <br />Minnesota Association of Conservation District Employees (MACDE) -Tim Gieseke <br />reported that Curtis Borchert resigned as president of MACDE; thus Tim is now <br />president. Tim stated that MACDE would like to increase the one-stop shopping needs <br />of landowners. Tim reported that a meeting was held on May 12 with MACDE, PCA <br />and BWSR to define the roles in the MOU with dairy inspectors. Tim stated that the <br />communication aspect within SWCDs has changed business efforts for the better since <br />e-mail has been implemented, keeping SWCDs informed. Ron stated that Tim has <br />been involved in rock inlets. <br />Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (MASWCD) -LeAnn <br />Buck commented on the appropriation for CREP. LeAnn thanked the SWCDs for their <br />support and active involvement. in the legislative session. LeAnn reported that a <br />meeting with Monsanto will be held in St. Louis to see if funding is available for <br />conservation tillage. LeAnn thanked Ron Harnack for his fine efforts during the <br />legislative session. <br />Minnesota Association of Watershed Districts (MAWD) -Susan Scribner thanked Ron <br />Harnack for acknowledging Ray Bohn's efforts during the legislative session.
