~~'
Attached is General Permit 2000-6117, which authorizes temporary water appropriations for
surface water appropriations to facilitate flood protection and stormwater basin maintenance in the
seven-county Metropolitan Area. To be included under General Permit 2000-6117, the project
must meet the following criteria:
a) For flood protection projects, the levels of any involved DNR protected basins must be above
the Ordinary High Water Level (OHW), and the stormwater basins cannot be DNR protected
basins.
b) The appropriation cannot cause adverse impacts to the receiving waters or cause downstream
flooding.
c) The permit is not valid if it adversely affects designated trout streams, calcareous fens, or
other significant environmental resources (Call the DNR if these resources are nearby).
d) Water intakes must be screened to keep fish from being drawn into the pumps.
e) Water appropriations cannot exceed 50 million gallons.
f) Water appropriations must be completed within one year from the start of pumping.
g) The Area Hydrologist for the county in which the project is located must be notified five
days prior to the start of pumping. Attached is a form that can be used to satisfy notification
requirements.
h) Water volumes must be measured and reported upon completion of the project. A $50 water
use report processing fee is required for projects that exceed 15 million gallons. Attached is
a form that can be used. to report water use.
Please be sure to read all provisions and limitations that are part of General Permit 2000-6117. If
you have any questions, contact the Area Hydrologist at 1200 Warner Road, St. Paul, MN 55106, or
ca11651-772-7910, or fax to 651-772-?977.
Attachments
General Permit 2000-6117
Notification Form
Water Use Report Form
