An existing statewide
General Permit (#97-0005) already covers authorization for dewatering, landscaping, dust control
and hydrostatic testing. The purpose of this draft permit is to more easily authorize the pumping
of surface waters that are causing flooding and for the maintenance of stormwater ponds. The
existing statewide General Permit does not cover these activities. This proposed General Permit
also requires that your Area Hydrologist be notified five days before the start of pumping and is
only for projects that have minimal potential for adverse environmental impacts.
We are providing the enclosed draft General Permit to you to initiate the 30-day permit
application comment period, as required by law. Please provide any comments, questions or
concerns you may have about the proposed permit or any of the enclosures to this office b~ June
15, 2000. Before permit issuance, this office will respond to your comments.
Please do not hesitate to contact me or your Area Hydrologist at 651-772-7910 if you have
questions or concerns about the draft permit or this process.
Sincerely,
~_/a~ f~
Dale E.
