BWSR Meeting Minutes <br />June 29, 2000 <br />Page Two <br />Chair Roer called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. <br />** Adopt Agenda -Moved by Clair Nelson, seconded by Jerome Deal, to adopt the <br />oo-a~ agenda as presented. Motion passed on a voice vote. <br />Dave Trauba, Wildlife Manager of the Lac Qui Parle Wildlife Management Refuge <br />Center, welcomed BWSR to the Refuge Center. <br />~* Minutes of May 24, 2000 -Moved by Jack Frost, seconded by Allan Oehlke, to <br />oo-as approve the minutes of May 24, 2000 as circulated. Motion passed on a voice vote. <br />Chair Roer thanked Yellow Medicine and Laq Qui Parle SWCDs and their staff for the <br />great tour on Wednesday. Chair Roer asked those attending the meeting today to <br />introduce themselves; as well as board members and BWSR staff. <br />Reports <br />Chair's Report -Kathleen Roer reported that she attended the BWSR Wetland <br />Committee meetings. The EQB did not meet in June. <br />Executive Director's Report -Ron Harnack reported that the Administrative Services <br />Director has been hired, Tammy McGlone will start on July 10. Ron stated that she <br />comes to BWSR wi(I tremendous legislative experience. Ron stated that CREP funding <br />has been a big issue the last several weeks. We have requested approval from <br />Finance to use some the bonding dollars for implementation. Without approval we will <br />have limited capacity to implement CREP. Ron commended board members, agencies, <br />and interest groups, and especially John Jaschke for their efforts on the WCA rule <br />amendments. Ron reported that he will be attending a forum in Indianapolis with the <br />Soil and Water Conservation Society on July 24-25, to discuss the Farm Bill. <br />Dispute Resolution Committee -Ron Harnack reported that one new appeal has been <br />received from Pine County regarding a wildlifelroad exemption issue. Ron stated that <br />the Cub Food issue in Forest Lake is pending. The Shell Rock River watershed district <br />establishment hearing was held in Albert Lea on June 5. The City of Duluth Home <br />Depot appeal is pending. <br />Wetland Committee -Darrell Bruggman reported that the rule amendment process is <br />on the agenda later today. Darrell commended John Jaschke for his work and Darrell <br />thanked Robyn Molina for the time and efforts she spent copying the document and all <br />those involved in the rule amendment process. <br />
