Role of GLWMO in Groundwater Protection
Reviewer Comments:
Reviewer Location(s) in Comment
Letter Comments
BWSR Items circled "5" The BWSR believes the GLWMO plan could emphasize
the groundwater management programs of other agencies
and the GLWMO's strategy to parh7er with those agencies
in their programs.
The BWSR questions how the GLWMO will identify and
regulate the protection of sensitive groundwater areas?
GLWMO Response to Comments:
It is the intent of the GLWMO Board and its member cities to cooperate with the other units of government
responsible for managing and protecting groundwater, and to support the policies in Ramsey County's
groundwater management plan. Section 5.8 of the GLWMO plan will be revised to reflect this position.
More information about the other agencies' groundwater management programs and the Ramsey County
groundwater plan policies will be added to the GLWMO plan. The GLWMO and the member cities will
cooperate with Ramsey County and the ONR to protect sensitive groundwater areas.
6. Inclusion of More Stormwater Management Information in Plan
Reviewer Comments:
Reviewer Location(s) in Comment
Letter Comments
Met Council Items circled "6" The Met Council points out that the 84I 0 rules require the
watershed plan to include more Stormwater management
information than is currently in the WMO plan. They state
that although some of the stormwater information can be in
the local plans instead of the WMO plan, other information
such as existing/proposed 100-year flood elevations and
peak discharges and flood. profile information for
channelized flow is supposed to be u1 the WMO plan. The
Met Council. does not have a copy of the GLWMO's Level
Control Plan to determine if it contains all the additional
information required. The Met Council also cannot
determine where all of the individual systems drain, where
improvements can be made, and where runoff ca-1 be
diverted to reduce flooding or improve water quality.
