GRASS LAKE WATER MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION
AGENDA ITEM
Date: 1/04/01 Prepared by: Karl Keel Item: D-]
Item Description: Review of Barr Engineering Contract - GLWMO 2"d Generation Plan
At the October 26, 2000 meeting, the Board discussed the contract with Barr Engineering for engineering
services to complete the GLWMO 2°d Generation Plan. As the plan nears completion, the original budget
of $116,925 has been depleted. Unfortunately, additional work is needed to complete the plan and
associated agency review. As was discussed with the Board, approximately $31,000 of work is needed to
complete the project. A memo from Barr Engineering included in the October 26, 2000 packet
summarized reasons for the budget overrun. Based on discussions with the Board at that meeting, it was
felt that both the GLWMO and Barr Engineering shared responsibility for the budget overrun.
The attached memo from Karen Chandler proposes to settle this budget issue by sharing the expected
additional cost evenly between Barr Engineering and GLWMO. This solution is in keeping with the
Board discussion of October 26, 2000.
RECOMMENDED BOARD ACTION:
A motion approving the proposed settlement with Barr Engineering for the cost overruns associated with
the preparation of the 2"`~ Generation Plan
MOVE:
SECOND:
AYES:
NAYS:
