BWSR Meeting Minutes <br />June 27, 2001 <br />Page Six <br />** <br />01-48 <br />** <br />01-49 <br />2001 Plan of Work for the Education and Public Relations Committee -Paul <br />Krabbenhoft presented the 2001 Plan of Work for the BWSR Education and Public <br />Relations Committee, based on the May 1998 BWSR Educational Strategy. Ginny <br />Imholte stated that she wants BWSR information as a high priority on the BWSR <br />website. Doug Thomas reported that each BWSR section is working on placing BWSR <br />programs on the website. This hasn't been a high .priority, but it is a priority to have the <br />BWSR website current and it is in the process of being updated to provide information <br />and service to our clientele. Paul stated that BWSR staff are trying to collaborate with <br />MES and other agencies to define roles and responsibilities, it's a continuing process <br />that is being developed. Moved by Paul Krabbenhoft, seconded by Jim Anderson, to <br />approve the 2001 Plan of Work with an amendment to objective #2, which will be a high <br />priority. Motion passed on a voice vote, as amended. <br />New Business <br />Area II Work Plan -Tabor Hoek introduced Kerry Netzke, Area II Minnesota River Basin <br />Projects coordinator. Tabor presented background information, and recommends <br />approval of the Area Il Annual Plan for fiscal year 2.002. Dwain Otte commended those <br />involved in Area II for their hard work. Moved by JoAnn Coover, seconded by Jerome <br />Deal, to approve the Area Il Annual Work Plan for fiscal year 2002. Motion passed on <br />a voice vote. <br />Linking Land Use Plans and Water Plans -Marybeth Block introduced Mark Wettlaufer, <br />Morrison County Water Plan Coordinator, and Lindberg Ekola, Ekola & Association. <br />They presented an overview of linking water planning to local comprehensive plans in <br />Morrison County. A comparison table showing water planning and land use planning <br />was distributed. Mark Wettlaufer thanked Marybeth Block and Doug Thomas for their <br />efforts on this project and supporting Morrison County on comprehensive and land use <br />planning. Mark stressed the importance of water planning. Chair Coe thanked Mark <br />and Lindberg for their efforts. The table presented is a good tool that could be used for <br />other planning efforts. <br />BWSR Authority to Remove a Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor from <br />Office -Jim Birkholz distributed a summary of his presentation which is for information, <br />with future action to be taken the Board. He represented two recommendations of the <br />Administrative Advisory Committee: 1) pursue legislation to handle Supervisor removal <br />the same as for other county elected officials; 2) in the interim, work through the State <br />Administrative Hearings Office. Ask them to conduct hearings; prepare findings; give a <br />recommendation to the BWSR; BWSR make the final decision; petition must qualify <br />with MS351.16. Chair Coe thanked Jim for his efforts on this process. <br />
