BWSR Meeting Minutes <br />September 26, 2001 <br />Page Nine <br />Advisory Comments <br />Tim Gieseke, Minnesota Association of Conservation District Employees (MACDE), <br />reported that MACDE will meet on October 12. The MACDE is encouraging district <br />employees to attend regional and national conferences by paying for their registration <br />fee. Tim will attend the MACDE 2002 Annual Conference. <br />LeAnn Buck, Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts <br />(MASWCD), thanked Jim Birkholz for his work on the governance issue for removal of <br />SWCD supervisors, and also his work on the District Capacity issues. A survey was <br />sent out to SWGDs regarding their input on governance and authority issues. LeAnn <br />reported that conservation provisions will be on the agenda for their annual meeting in <br />December. MASWCD is working on their legislative agenda for the upcoming 2002 <br />Legislative Session. <br />Ginny Imholte, Minnesota Association of Watershed Districts (MAWD), reported that <br />administrators met yesterday. MAWD's annual meeting will be held November 29 - <br />December 1, in Alexandria. <br />Upcoming Meetings <br />-BWSR Tour and Meeting, October 24-25, Caledonia. <br />Doug Thomas reported that a potential strike by MAPE and AFSCME bargaining units <br />may happen on October 1st. The original strike date was scheduled for September 17, <br />but due to the events on September 11, the strike was averted until October 1st. <br />BWSR has taken the appropriate steps and has a plan in place should the strike occur. <br />If the bargaining units strike, a notification letter will be sent out to our clientele.
