GLWMO Meeting
April 24, 2003
Page 2
C. Bills
C-1 Bills to be considered for payment
There were none, but the Board was updated on the status of the renegotiated fee for Web
hosting by Ban Engineering.
D. Other Business
D-1 General Discussion and Work Program Issues/Questions
Valley Park Pond (Roseville)
Schwartz updated the Board on the status of the restoration of the upland areas around the
new ponds created as part of the West Owasso Boulevard Street Reconstruction project.
Roseville and Shoreview will be working over the next year to provide some additional
planting materials in the area, but probably not in the context of a public improvement
project.
Lake Owasso Water Quality Monitoring
There was discussion concerning the interest and/or benefit of looking into citizen
monitoring (CAMP program?) as the on-going practice of GLWMO has been to budget
on the assumption that Ramsey County will eventually stop performing water quality
monitoring for free. Soderbeck indicated that Don Meyer, Lake Owasso homeowner and
former GLWMO Boardmember, might be interested in performing this work in the future
if necessary. Later in the meeting it was suggested that there be follow-up to ensure that
the water quality data from Ramsey County was getting to Ban Engineering to update
water quality trends.
LakeScaping_Demo (Table 6-1)
The lakescaping demo that was referred to in the work program for 2001 was officially
moved to 2003. Maloney and Schwartz were to identify candidate projects within
GLWMO; Central Park (Roseville) was also suggested in part because of the high
visibility that the demo would have. It was also suggested that staff should verify that the
local libraries have reference copies of "Lakescaping for Wildlife and Water Quality"
available. Soderbeck moved, DeZellar seconded, to move the $5,000 previously
programmed for a Lakescaping Demo from 2001 to 2003, and to offer up to $1,000 for
participation in the Central Park lakescaping, to order 30 additional copies of the
Aquascaping and offer them for the price of $5.00 to Lakeshore homeowner, and to use
the remaining portion of the $5,000 for GLWMO participation in the yet-to-be-identified
candidate project. Ayes: 5, Nays:. 0.
Web Page
Discussion regarding the need to make sure that the Shoreview and Roseville City we
pages had links to/from the GLWMO site. Also suggested that the GLWMO site had e-
mail links to the technical representatives from the cities, and perhaps a hit counter to get
