FROM THE BWSR METRO STAFF <br />As BWSR staff settles into new environs at 520 <br />Lafayette in St. Paul, it is a good time to <br />assemble and disseminate some info relating to <br />what's happening at the agency, along with <br />other timely topics. Read on to find out more <br />about: <br />^ BWSR news <br />^ WD/WMO/SWCD news <br />^ City comprehensive plan input <br />^ Protocol for communicating wetland boundary <br />determinations <br />^ NPDES: Non-degradation & MS4 <br />^ Watershed plans: Quick list of items for <br />consideration <br />BWSR NEWS: <br />On February 21, BWSR metro and central staff <br />moved to the DNR-PCA complex, just north of <br />Interstate 94 and Highway 52 on Lafayette Road <br />in Saint Paul. The lease expired at our old <br />building -long after the HVAC did -and rental <br />savings were obtained. We share the second <br />floor with the Office of Environmental <br />Assistance. A link to a map to the new office can <br />be found on the BWSR website homepage, <br />along with the new address. <br />Speaking of the BWSR website: We are <br />expanding the Metro Water Management page. <br />Please check the site in early April and you <br />should find an interactive map showing when <br />plans expire and other guidance pertaining to <br />watershed plans in the metro area. <br />There are a few new faces at BWSR. Most <br />notably, Dave Weirens. Many of you know Dave <br />from his previous position as the <br />environmental analyst for the Association of <br />Minnesota Counties. At BWSR, he heads up the <br />Land and Water Section. Les Lemm and Brad <br />Wozney continue to serve the clientele of the <br />area, under the direction of Steve Woods. In <br />addition to leading the Metro Office, Steve <br />attends to agencywide responsibilities under his <br />assistant director role. Marybeth Block is <br />departing the agency next month to join the <br />ranks of the self-employed. We wish her luck in <br />her new endeavor. Tom Mings and Lynda <br />Peterson also assist with metro wetland <br />activities, and Jim Haertel attends to watershed <br />district policy issues and handles statewide <br />appeals made to BWSR. <br />The BWSR Metro Region will be hosting a <br />Wetland Conservation Act Discussion <br />Session for LGUs on Monday, April 4, from 9:30 <br />a.m. to noon at the Maple Grove City Hall. <br />Topics for discussion include the latest policy <br />developments, applicant strategies, and stories <br />from the trenches.
